I also pruned out all the branchlets that grow straight up. Thats the first thing I do. __________________ I been kidding the last seven years. no.... really!

Al, I have the perfect idea for the pot of maple seedlings. You take a bunch of old candles, melt them down and then form a trunk. Then you use pins to stick all those seedlings around the trunk...
If you are lucky you can end up with a sibling to go with Jules. Of course, you will have to hurry. She has several months head start on yours!
With luck, you will end up with this:
