First Annual Shohin Shadows Show, Distant Memory

Hey folks, no shortage of wind today. Perfect conditions for covering 10 tables with white table covers, and a 20" blue stripe down the center. Trust me I looked like I was rigging a sail boat this morning.

Overcoming the weather issue, all the guys showed up and we set to putting out the trees for display.

One guy, Troy Cardoza, from Sacramento did not make due to adverse weather in his part of the woods. He was missed.

Due to space I will show only the highlights of the show. There well over 50 trees there in all stages of development.

those making the show today:
Al Keppler, Fresno
Glenn Van Winkle, Fresno
Bill Case, Clovis
Anthony Galante; Visalia

in the photo, Anthony and Bill

A closeup of some of the stock Rips is growing out there on the south fourty. This is a small olive about 2" tall. That trunk is about 1 1/2" across at the base.

We had a blast at the nursery today. Lots of our bonsai friends came by for a look see, and some people that stopped by just to see what all the commotion was about. The owner of the nursery had a great day, Anthony himself dropped about a grand there today. He bought a whole pallett of akadama. I got to see what he needs all this soil for? I bought a large olive for a project tree this year, more Sara Rayner pots, and other stuff. In the last 60 days I have spent well over 1000.00 there. Glenn spent about 500.00 there the last few weeks, and Bill spent some good dollars on a 3 foot tall cascade stand! I have to see what he is going to put on this!!!

The owner was very appreciative of all our effforts and we decided to do this more then once a year. We have decided that we want to do a bare bones winter show for all the twiggy detail.

Thanks for spending some time here, Bonsai-al
