Re: Bonsai Talk Spring Show

Here is the Procumbens nana Juniper I rescued from a city project. There were many laying all over the sidewalks where the city workers were grubing them out. This one is a survivor! I pruned it very heavily this Spring. It needs a good pot.

Tokoname training pot.

Here is a Shimpaku Juniper with a double trunk. It is very slow growing. I don't know why I like this one so much but I do. It reminds me of a tree growing alone in a field.

Container: Probably japanese. I like the color. I bought it 15 years ago in Milwaukee

Re: Bonsai Talk Spring Show

Here is a Japanese Maple I have been working on for about 9 years. The first 3 years were dedicated to creating a tapering apex. This was achieved by two diagonal cuts. In the third year The first, second and third branches were thread grafted through the trunk. All the branches are less than 6 years old.

Species: Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple)
Style: Informal upright
Height: 18 in. (46cm)
Pot: an inexpensive blue glazed container from Lowes

This is one of my Father-In-Laws
Small leaf azalea
Height is 10 inches from the pot, width 13 inches, and depth 9 inches.
The trunk is an inch in diameter, and the root base about 2 inches.
