Ugly Update

Its the Ugly Update!! The poor trident maple from hell has made it thus far....

However, a new problem (Ok not so new, i was warned about it) I think maybe the wax might melt if it gets too hot You were right, you know who you are

So i will post another photo in the height of summer, which is about 3 months away..

always good for a laugh

Jules:

Thanks for the update. This is most interesting and I look forward to seeing the progress. It's really neat to see you venture out into the unknown so to speak. I admire your sense of adventure.

Jules Absolutly to your credit You at least are making an attempt at creating a massave trunk maple. The rest of us are way behind. You will end up with something and it may be better than you think it is now.
I also want to say thanks this has been exelent reading.

Hi Jules

I think you should get something really solid - like a zip tie across the top, and then fan out the seedlings above it with some spacers (dense foam or wood) so the interior ones get some light and don't get crowded out and die. It will also give you some fast shade to keep the wax cool.

Wear safety glasses around that tree. Who knows when the pins will start popping.

Regards,

Matt

Thanks Matt i will give that a go for sure. this puppy is going to need all the shade it can get.

Its amazing how strong these seedings are. they had already started to try and grow up, breaking through the layer of black tape, so had to add a ring of wire to hold them.

Its going to be an interesting summer with this one.
