Wild Child,
A suggestion for next time - pack the roots on the rock with spaghnum moss, then use cling wrap film to wrap the roots to the rock. This keeps the roots moist while they adjust to their new life style. The cling wrap holds the roots snug to the rock.

Hey, thats a damn good idea! It's spring in about a week, and I will be stocking up like nothing else on stock for next spring. I will have a whole spate of step-by-step transformations. I have been sulking over a lost Serissa, a tree that was very very valuable to me and carried a lot of sentimental value, and as such have not even thought about my tree's other than watering and feeding once a while, some are looking good, some will need some recovery, but over the next few months, expect a lot of posts from me.

UPDATE:

DISMAL FAILURE. After a long period of trying to keep this poor thing alive, I finally let it go and gave it a proper burial into the bin. As it such with bonsai, trial and error. I hope to learn from my mistakes. I am starting a host of new projects these coming weeks, so look for more.

Drew.
