A few weeks ago i styled one of my own yamadori pines (Pinus mugo).
What do you say and what kind of pot would you use??
Greetings from Austria!

Re: Mountain pine

Nice tree. I know I am new, so take my suggestions on the pots light, but I feel maybe a planting on a rock would do weel, not root on rock, or like a cresent moon planter but get a rock that looks like a natural cliff and have it on that that way the nebari will take little adjustment and it will still be fine.

Re: Mountain pine

Wolfgang,
Nice work! I see this in a dark brown, squat, square Han-kengai type pot. No lip, just big and masculine, heavy, with straight sides and no undercut feet.
Thanks for the photo and the chance to comment!

Re: Mountain pine

Disregard the tree as compared to the pine you posted, but I would like to see the tree in one of the crater type pots. Maybe someone could do a virtual, and place it in this.

Re: Mountain pine

With Al's inspiration and the donation of his moon pot, I created this virtual.

The challenge will be seeing what lies beneath in the root mass of the pine. Some of this root area would need to be exposed, perhaps over time.

A larger, fuller apex to balance the descending branch?
