Juniper Procumbens -- Before And After

I picked up this juniper a couple of weeks ago because I was getting bored with nothing to style. As you can see it is very healthy. Actually the foliage was a bit more tight and compact than I would have liked it to be. I like to really thin out my junipers when I style them. This one is gonna take a while since it is so dense. I don't like to take a lot off both the top and bottom at first repotting.

This pic shows the tree right after the first haircut and wiring.
The tree is still very dense here and needs addittional work to highlight the branch structure.

This is the most recent work. I've opened it up a bit more.
The tree still has a long way to go. I especially need to develop the crown more, and decide whether or not to keep those lower branches that are near that inside curve.

Hi Thomas,

I think you did a good job with this juniper. In my opinion the low left hand branch should go. As you said it's on the inside of a curve, and it does not harmonize with the other branches. Maybe you should alter the planting angle aswell ? Maybe a bit to the left ? Does the trunk have some reverse taper in the trunk or is it just the picture ??

regards, René

Here's a further suggestion based on Rene's good virtual. How about separating the lower right branch a bit more from the rest to give it more movement downward?
