Jay & René, good stuff!

I particularly like what you did with your first one Jay, those crossing trunks were bothering my eye too. There is a lot of stump, yes, and although I've never seen one 'in the flesh' as it were, I understand that is quite common for olives. Looks better mounded up a bit though.

Also Jay regarding lowering the stump in a graphics package, "if the mountain won't come...", move the pot UP. There should be a trace function, (sometimes called lasso) that you should be able to trace round a portion of the image. cut & paste and drag around to suit. If there are bits of white left showing, just clone them over. Hope this helps.

Regards,

TB

Treebeard... everything HELPS!! What I need is a block of time to sit with the program and try and learn it...not just fly by the sit of my pants. Thanks for the advise.

Thank you all,
The crossing trunks are a problem, the first thing I did, after pruning, was to try to separate them with a piece of wood, I thing it will take years, if at all, to fully separate them.

I know I said:
Quote:
I could chop the whole lot back and start from scratch but I don't suppuse you would want that.
but I wasn't really happy with the tall pierneef look...

so I had a play about and came up with this. I have no experience with olives, so I don't know how long it would achieve this look. Quite a few years I expect.

Perhaps some of the olive growers out there could say how long (hint...)

There does look to be some new-ish growth low down that could be used, and yes I do know my virt is rather like René's first... and Jay's last...

Regards,

TB

TB... again, I too, am not an olive grower. But... I like this vert... I would think about lowering the planting height... or mounding the soil. I guess I have a problem with soooo much of a 'hunk of a trunk'.

Jay, I agree about the mounding, don't know why I forgot to do it...

All in all it is a very unique piece of material. This last virt makes it look almost like a conventional raft... Not sure whether that's good or bad

TB

Hi TB & Jay,
Thanks again for your virtual and your time.
One of the most beautiful things of this tree is its trunk, with its natural Jin and Shari.
I will try to expose the trunk as mush as I can.
Thanks,

Tree Update,

On my last visit to Chicago last July I had bought few mica training pots.

Last Saturday I had repotted the tree form its wooden growing box to a mica training pot.

From almost no roots at all to a nice root ball:
