Alex: I use one teaspoon rooting hormone to two gallons of water, and add a couple drops of dishsoap to break down surface tension. Then, I will soak my sphagnum moss in this for my airlayers.

I have just set up my first attempt at an airlayer. It is on a silver birch in the backgarden. Does anyone know how well this species responds to airlayering.

? When the moss and everything else is in place/ready, do you water it with pure water so it does not dry out? or does the tree pump enough water to the new roots so they do not dry out?

Tiny-Plant: You must water the airlayer moss, I water the same as a normal tree in a nursery pot.
