ATM: Larix Laricina
Hello Walter!
I am submitting this for a friend. This Larix has been in training for about 3 seasons I believe, collected about 5 years ago.... We were going over this tree today in his backyard and he asked us what we thought about it. We all gave several opinions and suggestions to fronts, removal of the dead 'leg' and etc. I piped in that we should "Ask the Master" so here it is. I took four sides and several different front options at various angles. If you need any info on it other than the pix, let me know. Regards. Paul

Last of the pictures. Thank you for your input, and your patience while looking through the pictures. I may have been over zealous in my efforts!!!! Thanks again Paul

Paul,
this is somehow the direction you could go. The crown should constitute no problem. Just make it smaller and nicely shaped. The fork in the lower part of th trunk is the big problem. You could find a stone that fits right in there. While everybody sees that this is a trick, it is OK, as long as it is done well. Like painting lips is a trick, but acceptable. good luck Walter Pall http://walter-pall.de |

One option that was discussed was removing the dead leg and carving the it flush with the rest of the trunk, incorporating it into the trunk. Do you see this as a viable option? What are your pro's and con's to this?
Thank you for your quick response!!! Paul
