Will,
Dallas Bonsai sells a pot very close to pot #2. He probably has a few different colors also.

Pots

i think the problem with pot number 3 is the angle of the shot.
number 2 is shown head on,i bet it would make a difference in how it looks in the photo.
i think i like #3,and the 4th pic after the pots,thats a beautiful photo!

well heck!,this was sposed to go in the ficus thread with the pot virts

Did some clipping yesterday on this fig following your suggestions Walter. The effect of the rounded apex is remarkable. Also did some minor wiring to bring the crown down on the sides slightly to give it a more rounded look.

Thanks again Walter for providing your expertise here and helping people like myself achive better bonsai.

Amazing what five months and some great advice can do for a bonsai...

Next repot will be into a smaller pot and I still am working on refining the three crowns....

Will,
Nice progress with this tree... Goes to show you what having a good plan, and sticking to it can do!

Good work, Will!

Much nicer in the new pot - and I wonder if you could push for an even shallower pot... The colour and subtle glaze of the new pot complement trunk and foliage nicely, unlike the previous pot, in which the trunk was getting a little lost.

One thing that bugs me is the double branch which leaves the 1st bend - dunno how you'd feel about losing one of them... I've done a couple of quick virts with each of the 2 branches removed, and neither branch on its own is currently strong enough to be branch No1, but I believe that the branch in Pic 1 could be pulled down to make a very convincing No1 branch.

Pity your recent pic is a little fuzzy.

Thanks and good luck.

FlyBri.
