The STAND Arrives!!

Hi,

I got home from work on Wednesday, not expecting the parcel from Al for another week at least...

but, as I walked into the kitchen, there it was! A much larger parcel than I was expecting...

Like Oldmistercrow with his parcel, I eagerly tore it open...

I was speechless. My mouth hung open.

I called my wife, showed it to her with a big grin. We both agreed it was awesome! Superb!

Hats off to Mr Al Keppler. The stand is a beautiful work of art. You are a true craftsman.

Thanks again to all concerned with the contest. Al, Matt & Walter, and all the participants and voters.

Regards,

Chris aka TB

Saikei. Left hand group of three is a disaster. Well, actually the other two groupings are just less of a disaster...

Pinus thunbergii cork bark.

Too small for the stand really, but it shows the excellent top on the stand.

a VIRTUAL repotting of my Trident maple. I wanted to see what the tree (currently in a plastic trainer pot) would look like in the oval Walsall ceramics pot.

I'm thinkin you hit on somptin with that ginkgo my man. That is a great tree, in a great pot on a great stand.

That trident has potential too. I like the pot, but the crown's shape is wrong. can't put my finger on it, but the trunk looks to good to be in the broom style. I would open up the crown some, get some layering going on, and let some of those lower branches breath a little. The virtual is great though. Very seemless. Like what you have done so far, and I'm glad you can put the stand to good use.

Get ready for the bare bones show to follow this winter, I'm sure this stand will pop up again.

Like Andy, bonsai in my sleep, Al

I think the trees you displayed on Al's stand are awesome TB!

The stand is a quality piece of work! It makes me want to request another contest so we could get another chance at owning one too!

Al, Your display stands and trees are true treasures as well as the way you help us to grow as bonsai artists by teaching and posting like you do!

BTW: What's a Bare Bone Show?

I like the Ginkgo, too. Makes me want to dig up the one in the backyard and put it in a pot. I don't like them, usually, but yours is awesome.

Thanks, Al, for contributing the stand. It is truly beautiful. Makes me think I should enter one of the contests...we'll just have to see...

Congratulations Chris!!!

Chris, Ya done well!! Those trees look great on your new stand. I especially like that Gingko as well.

Lesley,

I think the "bare bones" is a deciduous show in their winter glory. (without foliage) I may be wrong, but I think that is it.

Paul
