Thanks for the new thread Al -

Nicely done, Alex.
I like it very much. Amazing what was hiding in that mound.
Way to bring out the simple, pleasant lines.
I would love to see a closer shot of the base of the tree if possible, or maybe a shot from above.
Well done.

I love both entries!

To Alex-

I think that you have really saw the inner tree in the stock. When I first saw the before picture, I thought: I'll bet he'll do a windswept. But the semi cascade is genius! The only thing I have to say is wait a while for the foliage (don't know if that's the right term for non-decidous trees) to get more dense. Awesome job!

To Al-

Wow! You have imitated nature and age very well in your entry. Again, you really saw the inner tree. I will be looking forward to seeing this tree again in 5-15 years!

Almost but not there yet.....

So here it is, a totally beautiful day.... Sunny and warm, it is nearly 70F here. I thought I'd do a little nursery crawl and look for that Contest Tree... you know the one that can not lose! Well, I must have gotten there to soon. Home Depot and Lowes had nothing in yet.... neither did The 'Marts.... many of my local nurseries were not open and the one that was had not dug out from the snow.

So I guess Spring is Thursday but I will just have to wait.... how are the rest of you doing?

Hi Jay.
Same thing here northeast of Boston.
The sun was bright, the snow melting, Spring in the air and no nursery trees to be found. I did do a funeral today and the cemetery groundskeeper said the ground was still frosty eight inches down. He guessed two weeks and the trees will be singing. Hallelujah!

It's starting to feel like Spring here in the Midwest, but nothing much at the nurseries. Mainly old, left-over stock from this past fall, or indoor tropicals. The next few weeks should bring some new stock into the area, then the purusing will begin!

Hello Fish.

I like what you have done, I have taken the liberty of adjusting the levels (using photoshop). The tree stands out better now, showing off your excellent handiwork to better advantage

Regards,

TB

Thumbs up Thanks

Chris,

Thanks for the comments.

Feel free to take the liberty anytime my photos lack clarity - I'm still trying to figure out all the stuff on the new camera and I'm limited to what I can do after the event as work are a bit precious about me adding new software on their laptops.

Cheers,

Fish.

how will the winner be judged?

i am of the opinion that we should all vote for our favorite with a poll type system.

there is a poll here http://pcworld.idg.com.au/ that i think would work perfect.

cheers
