Clemson huh. Must have missed it there . Will have to check next time I am up there.
Isn't that Israel & Sons the one by the farmers market. Across the street from the Moose Cafe (no I didn't make that name up).
If so I missed it there also. Maybe the wife is right I need new glasses.
No matter. I am glad that at least some places carry them

I havent seen any of the Bonsai magazines available anywhere except Bonsai nurseries in the UK, none of the major stores sell them + neither do the smaller shops. I too would like to sample before i buy a subscriptionbut dont seem to be able to do that here

There was something in the Editorial section of issue 100 that offered subscribers an opportunity to provide name & address of individuals who might be prospective subscribers to receive a trial issue. I don't know if that was US only. I think international postage is pretty steep though.

Probably getting back issues at a club sale or auction would give you the flavor of the various offerings.

Regards,

Matt

Wayne,

Check ebay. You can frequently pick up recent (and not so recent copies) for much less than the subscription price. I used ebay to fill in the 15 or so editions i couldn't find elsewhere- and the post #27 editions were cheaper than Stone Lantern.

Here is an on-line interview with Waine Schoech at the AoB website. It addresses some of the issues that have been raised in this thread:

You will not find a news stand copy of any bonsai magazine in the US. Not sure if that is because of the small (?) audience for them or just the quality of the bonsai mags out there. <snip>

Ron: I saw BT once at a Barnes & Noble. Can't remember which one.

Darn. I thought it was going to tell me why my local news stand doesn't carry BT.
But on the whole it was a pretty good interview on Waine.

All Barnes and Noble carry the same thing. That is the nature of a chain store.
Wonder if it is listed on their web site. I'll have to take a peak.

Did a search of the Barnes & Noble web site for BT. All I came up with was this

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/bo...=y&cds2Pid=9481

Did find it on Amazon.com though
