Here are my "little" trees with a shiny penny for scale.
There are 2 red cedar, a boxwood, and a mullberry.
I have since thrown out the mullberry and replaced it with a lemon.

I thought my Tiny ficus post that I made some time ago was small, I was wrong. Those trees are tiny.

here's a few of my shito Mame

just thought I 'd add a few

the one in the rectangle pink pot is a parsley aralia
the brown cascade is a serissa
the next one in front is a Euphorbia
the 2 round pots in the back left to right are haworthia and Monodenium , respectivly
and the last one is a crown of thorns.
There is a key in the 2nd pic to show size, the biggest is the cascade at 2.25" tall!

I have a few more really nice trees, but no good pictures that really show them properly

OldVamp,
It's great to see someone utilizing an incredible native specie...eastern red cedar (juniperus virginiana). Over time, working with cedar, you will acquire great respect for this tree and think "shimpaku". Especially when juvenile needles become mature and soft.
nice little trees!

Do carassula count as bonsai? seing as they aren't even trees?

My smallest are in training, seedling which i'm not letting grow more than a few inches tall. Japanese black pines seem to be working a treat!

i would say any plant that has a woody stem can be made into a bonsai, and there are countless Jade bonsais out there, so yes!

Yep, that definitely sounds like crassula! Branching will just come naturally as it (quickly) grows. I would recommend a smaller leaved variety tho, as jades(c. argentea/ovata) have largeish leaves and you cant really leaf prune these guys I dont think.
