The tree looks to be a ficus too little, which means it was taken from a cutting or layer and would have originated from http://www.gulfstreambonsai.org/Adv...chisonwebad.pdf since they hold the trademark on the tree.

Wow, i didn't know you could put a trademark on a tree.
Dankone, I think it was called something like "Nancy's Garden" but i'll find out for you. I picked up a few pines, elms and maples there (all pre-bonsai) but the trees are great and prices are really good! i dont' think they have a web page but i'll check on the name with my buddy down there and let you know.

Not all Ficus Benjamina sports are "too littles"!
There have been a lot of sports over the decades.

It's a too little. After nearly three thousand post and a little sand in my eye I have learned never to ID w/o being as certain as one can be through a photo example..

Hey All,
Ok to settle the debate, it's a too little. I just found the label for it. Also, Dankone, it's either called May's or Mary's Green House on South Walnut in Bloomington. It's a cool nursery, I'd recomend it if you're in the area.

These things can be finicky about cutting back to hard. Never cut back to less that 3 leaves or you risk loosing the branch. Let grow out to 8-10 leaves then cut back to 3.
