Pinus Mugo 'Michella'

So yea.. this place seemed a little lonely, so I just decided to put this guy in. I got him a few weekends ago... I admit.. I think I overpayed.. but oh well.. Its a Mugo Pine, but I almost fainted when I saw the needles...THEY ARE SOOOO SMALL and its really compact... infact, VERY compact. I forgot to take a before pic, but you can just imagine a ball of needles on a 1/2" trunk. This is just an after picture... I like the result.. the only problem I have with it is that it is swollen (thicker than the base of the trunk)where all the branches used to be, so it looks weird.. but nothing the foliage cant hide later on..

Thanks for posting a photo of a small but healthy mugo - I will be linking another post over to this one right away!

It does appear that the photo does not include the entire tree & pot and is taken from a rather weird angle. Is there a story here or just a viewfinder problem

Regards,

Matt

Nice little tree, it should look great in a pot.

Great find, Kazuki! That one looks like it'll make a superb shohin in surprisingly few years. Just be careful when replanting - don't work the top and the roots at the same time! Dwarf mugos hate that, in my experience.

Best wishes,
Carl

This is a nice tree! Sometimes overpaying for a tree is just a future investment .
