bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Kingsville Mame

I received this last winter from a local bonsai shop unexpectedly. Tom hid it in a bag containing a few supplies I had purchased as a thank you. Not having much experience with Mame, I gave it a go. Total height is one and one half inches from the soil line. Opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to get more picture views? I might have something in mind, but not too sure.

Yes, I'll take some while at home and post later. I am greatly interested in ideas for this.

Very pretty, is Kingsville a species? And what's that piece of agate there for?

Yes, this is a Kingsville Boxwood (Buxus microphylla). The slice of agate that you so aptly picked up on is serving as a stand for the moment.

Hi Will,

Judging by the 2nd pic, methinks you're heading towards a very nice small semi-cascade, what's that round thing in pic one, nice to be able to see the pot without any distraction.

I agree, a nice, small, semi-cascade looks like it would be interesting.

I wasnt sure what to do with the other branch, so i cut it off.

Hope this Helps a little little bit.

ps- if you do this you could obviously turn the pot around to what fits the eye the best.

merely looking at the pics, is that perhaps a smaller pot is needed. it's hard to tell because im not looking at it in person, but just my 1 1/2 cents.
