I been the good guy here from the start. The understanding professionals of this website can feel free to look at all the post I made and will easliy see that I'm the good guy and have been treated like trash from all of you. It seems you guys that called me numerous unwanted names would have more to do then beat up on a person who is new to bonsai, cause I seem weak to you, that is not supposed to be allowed.
The moderators are more then welcome to look at all my post and should be easy to see that I have never called a single person a name, not 1 time. I have done nothing but keep my cool, and you guys should do the same. I guess your ego is getting the better of you, it's not my fault you guys are name callers. I don't want the moderators to take my word, the proof is in the pudding, feel free to look at my post. I think Fishbone will be very disappointed you guys forced his thread to be locked, he deserves better then this. Good night all. |

Sorry, Pearl. The issue here, which you refuse to hear/realize, is that your advice in this thread and others has been consistently poor, or as you say, 'bottom of the barrel'. The job of the moderators is not to point out or correct bad advice posted in threads; that's the job of the more experienced members here. You probably won't get banned, either. However, every time you decide to post questionable advice/info, you will get called on it. If you stick around and continue to demonstrate lack of knowledge with your posts, as well as an unwillingness to accept advice from those that know better, you'd better get used to being hammered. And the newbies at the forum you fill with your wisdom will quit bonsai forever, thats the sad part. Pearl, until you bad mouthed someone giving good advice that countered your not necessarilly good advice, everything was fine here, so take your ball and go crawl under the rock you slid out from under. Ms. Vic, pa - leeeeeeez show him a world class tree or two that you have cared for, that should be the gag we are all looking for. Funny that someone soooo knowledgable about bonsai, doesn't recognize (in Nicks term) "the Robinson". fishbone you have gotten some good advice here, I think you recognize it doesn't start with Pearl. Good luck with that tree.

![]() I'll do my best to insulate the little tree, I'll edit this post in a few moments and add pics of the garage. This morning it was 32 outside and 40 in the garage, so it seems to hold temperature decently. I'm just concerned about the amount of mulch, IE putting too little. Again, can you please tell me how many inches from the bottom it should be and how many inches around? I understood the part with 1 or 1.5 inches on the top of it. The mulch I got from the local nursery is Earl May Gold something, from hardwood. Should be good, right? As far as water goes, being into the aquarium hobby, I can tell you all about it. Firstly, it's not chemically treated because it is well water. However, I still use a product called PRIME by Seachem Labs to condition it before I use it in my aquariums [but not for plants]. It's the best conditioner second to none. It neutralizez chlorine and chloramine and detoxifies ammonia and nitrites. It also removes iron typically found in tap water to prevent toxicity to fish. Would this product still be safe to use if I move into the city and need to get rid of chlorine and chloramine? I should note that the water does go through a softner, I do have access to pure well water but just not in the winter. My water is at a steady pH of 8.2, sometimes drops after heavy rains to 7.8 but the KH and GH hardness stay about the same. I do get trace amounts of nitrates, about 0.5 ppm. I have a liquid API Master Freshwater Test Kit that I use for all my water testing needs. Oh, I'm sorry. Was that too much information? ![]() Victrina, I might hold you to your promise if this little tree doesn't pull through and I've done everything right The trouble is, I'm getting conflicting info. Some people say winterize it now, others say I haven't acclimated it and it's too late and I should do my best to keep it in a moist and cool place because if I take it out I'll shock it etc. I'm not one to jump in as you can see, I'm sometimes TOO cautios. I have, for example, a dying dwarf gourami due to a swim bladder disorder and I've doubled the treatment of both antibiotics and anti-parasitic medication just so I'm 100% sure he's a goner. Most people would have given up day 6 into it, I'm now into day 14 ![]() Last edited by fishbone : 27-Nov-2007 at 12:09 PM. |

I'll let you in on a little secret Bill (though I'd bet you aleady know this)... I learned long ago in this place that if someone was saying something which didn't make much sense, or was over the top... I would click their profile and sift through every thread they ever posted... every photo they might have had in the gallery... and would see what their comments had been in other threads...
Almost every time someone said something over the top... or took a be all end all stance in bonsai... generally they had no trees posted for comment... no threads which taught something of value... and their gallery was empty. Anyone who wants to challenge my experiance, or my right to speak to a subject can read my threads... look at the trees I have posted for comment... or check out the gallery of photos. Because yes... every one of those trees has been in my care. I thought of posting trees... but it would have only given him an opportunity to snear at more trees. I decided it was his responsibility to answer his own question. In a place like this where someone can dispense whatever advice they wish... it is the responsibility of the receiver to determine if that advice is valid. For me that means evaluating the giver's contribution to this forum. However long or short their time here, it doesn't take long to figure out if they know what they are talking about. Kindest regards, Victrinia |

Fishbone... any concern I had last night over how you'd do in the midst of this fracas has evaporated.
Trust me... it'll be fine. You'll kill it for sure if you don't move it now... as you know... time is precious... and it's awastin. And I'll insist you hold me to my promise... (grin) Again.... welcome to the family. Warm regards, Victrinia |

Here's the pics I promised.
Two are of the place I'm thinking of placing the bonsai. As you can see, it will get some direct sunlight for a good portion of the morning. The other is just to show the size of the garage, it's a 3-car one. Victrina, what makes you say that any concern has gone away? Was there something I said? ![]() Oh, I made a small boo-boo. I placed a small shallow plate with water, but the little feet of the bonsai container slipped and the sucker soaked up water. It's pretty wet now. I put it on a towel and I'm going to let it dry, I hope it's not going to do much damage. |
