powder puff leaves stay closed???

I recently bought a powder puff ( calliandra emerginata ) it is blooming like crazy but the leaves do not open during the day. I had the plant in a north east facing window when I first got it and the leaves opened during the day and closed at night and the plant only had one bloom. I was afraid it was was not getting enough light so I move it into another room and placed it under compact flourescent lights that have a 6500k temp and put out around 1300 lumens. after about a week the plant put out four or five buds but the leaves no longer open. I have several serissas under the same setup that are thriving. The plant looks very healthy and shows no signs of being ill at all but, not having any experience with this species i don't know if I'm giving the plant too much light.

if any one has any info on why the leaves are not opening or has any helpful advice please let me know.

thanks in advance.

Hi Dan. I first posted this a little over a year ago. at that time the plant was about six or eight inches tall. Now it is about three feet tall and doing great. the problem was the soil was draining too fast and would not allow the plant to absorb enough water. changed the soil and fixed the problem. Thanks for the response though.
