Posts: 66	Portulacaria Hi all, I would like to know if its possible to defoliate a 'portulacaria afra' (elephant bush not crassula). And if so, when is the right time to do it? But i really can't see why you want to do it as these trees have really small leaves( at least mine does they are about the size of a boxwood leaf) But i think that a partial defoliation should do the trick __________________ Bonsai Club Romania

Posts: 66	Hi, just an update , I tried defoliating one branch leaving two leaves at the end. The leaves are relatively small, but I wanted some backbudding and ramification. Well I'm satisfied with the results. Many new leaves appeared near the trunk, and smaller leaves too. Maybe next year I will retry on more branches... __________________ Best regards, Jean
