I keep quite a few ficus indoors but I was recently presented with an old Jade which was a bit of a bush. The old lady that owned it wanted it out of the way so I took it and pruned it a bit. I think it will make a nice bonsai someday:

Ivy can be trained as a bonsai, and grows well indoors and out. I am experimenting with an ivy plant now. The leaf reduction capabilities are amazing. I got a leaf the size of my palm down to 3mm. The "trunk" can be encoraged to look barky by with holding water or bruising the surface. I would recommend it for shohin, since getting a fat trunk takes 5-10 years.
