Forgive me for this question, because I've read many similiar in the Q&A's, and I know you're all probably sick of it.
I live in Atchison, KS. As far as I can tell it's a USDA zone 5. It gets very warm and humid in the summer, and very cold in the winter. I have a three year old juniper bonsai of unknown type. (It's a juniper, that's all I know I am also trying to grow 3 maple seedlings that I will be trying to make into bonsais. Will the juniper survive inside? Will the maples? Will I be better off keeping them outside? They will be on some sort of table, and they'll have shade during part of the day, but they'll be otherwise exposed to the elements. |

You had a little more information in your Journal, so I replied there.

hey, i read your journal, Matt gives great advice all the time so listen to him. But i had juniper just like yours and i left it out during the last winter and it died. It was healthy like yours, but Id since we are from the same area, Id recommend keeping it out of extreme cold and especially freezing rain and snow. Other than these times it should be ok outside or in an unheated garage if you want to be completely protectant.
Also wait till early spring to repot, potting soil would be bad. Junipers dont like to moist all the time. You need something that drains alot better. -Kevin

LOL
Maybe I should switch soil on my juniper and my maple. The juniper dries out faster than anything else, and the rest stay moist. Had to water the juniper just an hour ago, while everything else was moist. All of the rest seem to drain fairly quick as well though. |

If its drying out then its ok, dont need to change the soil. Pines and junipers and stuff dont mind be getting alittle dry between waterings. The maples shouldnt get bone dry, there in plastic containers too so they wont need water that often.
Stick a chopstick in the soil to gauge how dry or wet it is to help with the watering. -Kevin
