Nursery Locations

Hi all.

I don't know if this is really allowed (so feel free to delete this thread, Matt), but I travel a lot. I also have quite a bit of free time when I am traveling. I go all over the country, but stay mainly in the southeastern United States. I bet you can guess where this is going.

A good bonsai nursery is hard to find. A recommendation from someone who lives in an area carries a lot of weight when you are only in that area long enough to visit one shop. I would like to compile a list of quality bonsai nurseries so I can be sure not to waste my time when I am on the road. All recommendations are welcome.

Also, I notice several of you are proprietors of your own nurseries. Shameless plugs are encouraged. I don't need addresses and phone numbers. Names and cities are more than enough to find them in the yellow pages.

Thanks for all your help, everyone.

Me too!

I travel alot too and would love a "Master" list.

Here are a few to start. New England Bonsai and Royal Bonsai just out side of Boston are both great.

There was such a list on the Internet Bonsai CLub site, but it seems not yet to have made it to their new site.

It would probably be helpful to eMail Nic (their webmaster) to ask if it could be restored. Yes, I have an axe to grind, as I put considerable effort into my contributions to it. ( YOU try to describe Ron! )

Some state societies (Florida comes to mind) have directories within their area, as do some clubs.

Also, a Google on Bonsai and the State name may help. (Just tried it for Iowa )

(Added): I would second the reccomendations for New England Bonsai and Royal Bonsai, but would add Bonsai West to that list for Boston.

Funny isn't it. All the nurseries that have been mentioned by name are up north and the question asked about nurseries in the southeast.
Well I at least think its funny ;o)

Ron:

You could begin to help by adding a description of your own info to the list at
"master list of nurseries"

Your name is already there. Just click on it, and a box will appear where you can describe your operation and give contact info.

I'll do that later on tonight. Right now my wife is making me rake the leaves. Every now and again I sneak in when her back is turned ;o)

Got to run. Here she comes

While you're in there, you might wish to clean up the entries I posted for Jupiter and Dura-Stone.
