Need new tools!

Heya!

I just got a substantial amount of money and I need to buy some new tools. I'm first and foremost looking for a spherical concave cutter, preferably stainless. The price doesn't matter, but the quality does.

Does anyone have any suggestions about a reliable vendor that will ship to Europe?

Regards
Emil

Hey Emil, have you tried bonsaimonk.com? Karen is in charge there and I know her well. Very reputable and I am sure she would ship to you. Downside is they don't carry Masakuni tools which is what I think is the best available. The "best" line of tools they carry is very good.

Heya Graydon!

Thanks for the tip! I was checking out dallasbonsai but as far as I could tell they don't ship to Sweden so I placed an order at bonsaimonk instead. They had the Naka books as well, which I've read but they have been on my need-to-have list for a couple of years so I ordered those as well.

I'm sorry for the US, but now that the $ is so low it really pays off to order from you guys

Haha hoho hu

Another way of looking at it is that our salaries, homes and retirement plan are just about 50% of what it used to be 8 years ago or so (in Euro terms).

If you want to look at the half empty glass from another perspective (the full one of course), look at the price of European cars in the US, because since European cars makers like BMW and Mercedes wanted to keep their market position in the US they lowered their prices just about that same 50% devaluation of the Dollar. Then, if you buy a BMW or Mercedes, you are catching a bargain

I did some math and the cutter set me back 16,15 Big Macs, well worth it IMO!

Glad we could help. Yeah the devaluation of our currency is beginning to suck. I'm lazy by nature but need to work. Seems that I am getting less jobs based on our crappy economy. So be it. The big question is how long until it turns around.

Anyway - hope you enjoy the tool and books!

Emil,
Glad to see you bought tools from the Monastery and not eBay etc. Thanks for supporting our companys who do it for a living and not just for kicks. The Monastery group are great folks. The two brands they sell are very good and I sell them myself and buy from Monastery when I see Karen at shows.

Yes, our $ sucks! When I order tools from Europe now I lose about 35% of my money PLUS shipping/ins/customs and folks here can't understand why they are so expensive!

I think soon we'll see a BIG change in show vending ( and registrations) here in the USA as gas reaches $4/gal and hotels, fees, benefits, etc. keep getting worse.

Dale

About the dollar. It's all just part of the NAFTA & WTO arrangement to get our standard of living down to that of a 3rd world nation.
