I've never purchased anything from Brussels. I've had a mugo or mugho, as some call it, and they do pretty good as long as you don't keep them too wet. Their roots like to get damp, but not stay too wet.

I personally havent ordered form brussels nor do I ever think I will. I always find the thrill in putting all your hard work in a tree that you've had and styled from step one. Not to be mean or anything, but I think it would be a lot easier to just buy a mugho from a nursery and work on it. You will feel more satisfied of the end result.

I have ordered from Brussels and found them to be very reliable. Things are always as described. I'm sure you will be happy with it. I haven't bonsaied a Mugo but think they would be quite hardy. In our area they are one of the "put in the ground and forget about them" shrubs. Pines do take quite a bit of work to keep shaped and to work properly with the needles so read all you can before you start prunning, cutting, etc.

Good luck!

well, goodnews, i got my tree today,(very prompt delivery!) andf i am very satisfied with it, it is better than the picture and was packaged well, i agreekazuki, it is more satisfieing to make your own stuff, but the club president sais that a beginner should have 1 good finished tree, and a whole bunch of other stuff to play with, and after seeing my tree, i am glad i ordered it, and am looking forward to seeing how it develops, i will TRY to poast pics tomorrow, and i will try to poast a pic of those "bones" me and rips were discussing, so wish me luck( im not good with pics, and i sometimes forget altogeather to poast em )

Congratulations on your purchase. That was a fast delivery, and it sounds like you got a nice tree for the price.

Stephen, I want to tell you how much I appreciate you posting this thread. Up to now, I have put all my investment in Bonsai into tools, pots, books, etc. In brief, all the things required to develop bonsai myself. I've gotten a few trees in the past to the potted bonsai point, but not alot. You've got me thinking that a real bonsai from Brussels might make a mighty fine Christmas present!
