Trident maple forest

This is one of my plantings I am thinking of selling. It is a Trident maple forest created by Mr. Takeyama of Japan at the International Bonsai Symposium in 1992, where I won it in the raffle. The pot is Tokoname-ware, and is about 27.5" wide and 3.2" deep.

If I have to ask, then I can't afford it.

But thanks for showing, Regards, Al Keppler

Wellllllll.....I have to ask... How much are you looking for.
Also is it a problem bringing it over the border to the US? I think this is a beaut! but as Al said above "if I'm asking it probably is to much!"

Happy New Year Jay

Re: Trident maple forest

Jay:

As to the first part of your question, I have no idea what I should ask for. On the one hand, I don't want to ask for too much for fear of seeming immodest, on the other I don't want to ask for too little and appear ignorant. Once I get serious about offering this and about ten other trees for sale, I'll probably consult two or three professionals about the pricing issue.

To give some indication, the pot cost me about $600.

Sorry for not being able to be more specific. But I would appreciate hints as to what I _should_ ask for. ;-)

As to the second part of your question, it is no problem to bring trees like this into the US. This particular group was exhibited at the Rochester Symposium twice, and we transport trees across the border quite regularly without a problem. Plants are not subject to duty and can be imported provided they are accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate, which certifies that the plant is free of certain specified diseases and insects.

Re: Trident maple forest

Reiner, Thank you for the reply. This planting, as well as your other trees, are wonderful. It is good to know that I can bring trees into the US from Canada.
Knowing that the pot was Tokoname gave me an indication that we are not dealing with a $19.99 Mallsai. I am sure that when you decide to price, and sell, this an others they will not only be fairly priced but not long on the market.
As I thought this group is out of my league. But can you blame me for having desire. I have viewed your work on the Gallery and on sites and am very impressed. I look forward to seeing your list of trees but suspect that an artist such as you are will command more than my pockets can produce.

Re: Trident maple forest

Hi Reiner, I live near Toronto (Markham), and have seen your postings on various forums. Do you have any contacts in the area, that I can purchase items from? I have been keeping tropical bonsai, and caudiciform bonsai for about 10 yrs now. Am now able to keep hardy trees. Have just a few, would like to increase collection.
Any suggestions?
