Silent Auction: Bonsai Sekai Mag X4

Let's try a silent auction. PM me with your bids. If you win, your bid is the price you pay and there will be no additional charges for shipping.

Up for auction are a set of 4 Bonsai Sekai magazine (Winter 1981, Spring 1981, Summer 1981, and 1982). These are English translations of the Japanese magazine "Bonsai World" Contains color photos, drawings, and text, much like the translation section of Bonsai Today.

They are in near mint condition.

Bidding ends 2/29/04 11:59 pm here in California. Highest bid will be posted here after that date.

20% of final price will be donated to BonsaiTalk; 10% in my name and 10% in buyer's name, so bid acccordingly.

Thanks. I hope this works out.

Cool idea!

What you're discussing seems to be a first-price sealed bid auction:

In a first-price sealed-bid auction bids are presented in confidence to the auctioneer and the winner is the highest bidder who then buys the object at his or her bid price.

An interesting derivative of this auction is the second-price sealed bid auction:

A second-price sealed-bid auction is one in which a bidder who offers the highest bid gets the goods a price equal to the second highest bid. This style of auction solves the problems of both an English auction and a first-price sealed-bid auction.

Another point for clarification is whether the bids will be made public at the end of the auction, and whether a bidder may change or increase his bid prior to the end of auction.

Regards,

Matt

Yes, that's it.

I will post the winner and the winning bid here. Sure you can change or increase your bid... whoever is the highest at the close of auction gets the goods.

Thanks,

Just a reminder there's only a day left to place your bids.

Good luck.

Done!

I'm surprised there's been fairly low interest for the magazines. Anyways, Treebay is the winner with his bid of $31.11. Before you say it was fixed, his was the first bid I received.

Thanks.
