Momma Always Said "It Does'nt Hurt To Ask"
I know I keep asking this question every couple of weeks, and I am probly getting on everyones nerves, but momma said "It does'nt hurt to ask". Does anyone out there want to offer me free trees? I know somebody has that one tree they are caring for that they feel just does'nt belong in their collection anymore. It could be possible that you just have to many trees to tend to, and need to free yourself of lesser valued trees in order to tend to your most valued. If this is you, let me know. I will take them off your hands and give them the best care I can.

Wouldn't it be more fun to make your own trees? *chuckle* I think that's what we're here for generally.

doody you got some front I'll give you that.
As for giving you trees... If it were not for a small accident of geography (ie atlantic ocean etc) I'd gladly offer you a couple that just seem to not fit in my collection...![]() Regards,

We do not make trees, we grow them. It can take a long time to grow a nice bonsai from seed, cutting, or layering. Any method can take a long time to creat bonsai. Even finding a naturaly dwarfed tree can take a while. I am in the process of a few methods above, and will eventually try all. My interest in bonsai is growing. So, naturaly I want more trees, but propagating is not done at this time of year in Ohio. It would also be nice to have trees at all kinds of stages in bonsai. Besides, one mans garbage is an others gold. The tree given to me might be the best one in my collection, and might be the tree that keeps me inspired. An other thing is that a tree given to me now will not be the same in 10 years. Would you not take a tree if one was offerd to you? Treebeard I am not sure I know what you mean "accident of geography". |

Doody,
I mean the fact that there are about 5000 miles between us. "accident of geography" is just my whimsical turn of phrase to to describe this fact. Regards,

free trees
I can help you out with some trees come and get em ha ha!
I have about 120 trees at the moment but now that the weather is getting warmer and I have to water them all the time They are actually starting to give me the s@#$s.Not many of these are going to become decent bonsai trees anyway.I realise now that bonsai is definately about quality not quantity. When I first started, everthing looked like a bonsai tree to me.Now the longer I do bonsai the worse my collection looks.I definately need to thin it out a bit.You are right to try and source your trees from anywhere you can,Ceberon says wouldn't it be fun to make your own trees and this is true, but you must be doing a number of stages of bonsai at once. You must have garden centre bought trees and wild dug trees to prune and pot but at the same time you need to have seedlings our cuttings on the go to.Put some small plants in the ground or in grow boxes for future material.Plants you have trained from a small tree will make a lot better bonsai than anything you will ever be given. |

Id be happy to have you take a few trees off my hands but location location
Said it b4 say it again...heheheIts so true - you need to grow as many trees as you can care for properly and not so many that you cant cope. Im sure there are some people in your neck of the woods ready to dump a few trees that need a good home, 'what goes around comes around' n all. jls |

Heres an idea,,,,,,,,,
How about everyone think about a way to localize people to eachother. you know so we can know who is close to one another. That way Doody could ask the people in his localized group for free trees, or heck even really really cheap trees. Maybe everyone could enter their zip code in a database and one could do a distance search like on AOL Yellowpages. Say I could search for people within 100 miles of me. You gettin all this treebay? anyway I think that would be a nice way to bring people together and make freinds. Heck I might see people in the forum 10 miles away from me and never know it. As far as I know theirs only one serial killer on the forum, so he's the only one we got to worry about. he he Any ideas ![]() ?/
