TreeBay Tips:5¢ Advice:Free *MODERATOR GROUP* Join Date: Aug-2001 Location: Silicon Valley Country: USA USDA Zone: 9 AHS Heat Zone: 4 Posts: 9,737	Forum Update Plan I wanted to update people that within the next couple of weeks I intend to update the forum software to the most recent version. The most pressing reason for the update is that it will provide some immediate help with the bandwidth issue - clickable thumbnails of the attached photos will be shown. You'll also be able to attach more than one photo to the same message, and pages should load much faster, too. On the downside, there will be some interruption of a few services: 1. Temporary forum interruption. May last 1-2 days. 2. Member Journals will be temporarily unavailable. I don't anticipate losing any of the information there, but it may be as long as a month or two before Journals can be accessed. 3. Our access to the current REC.ARTS.BONSAI feeds may be interrupted. I don't have a timeline on that. I expect all this to happen in the next couple weeks. I'll post a notice when things get started. Feel free to reply with any questions or concerns. We're planning the upgrade to begin on Thursday (Sept 16) or Friday (Sept 17) and is likely to last throughout the weekend, depending on how rapidly things come together. Most features of the site will be unavailable, including the forum and gallery. I will try to keep a status posted at the main page, http://www.bonsaiTALK.com but there won't be much news until the upgrade is complete. The contest deadlines will be extended to match the duration of the downtime. As noted above, Journals will be inaccessible for some time, even following the site restoration, so if you want to print yours or something, now would be a good time.
