Weeping Maple

Would it be too wierd to do a weeping maple? I have a rough bark maple that was chewed up a few years ago by Sophie(a rottweiller) and grew up from the bottom and kinda of sideways.

Weeping trees are usually done with "arches". The branches arch up and then down, and the smaller branches arch up and then down in smaller arches. The problem with doing a maple this way may be that all the new growth would go straight up, and have to be wired or weighted down, so it would never look good until it wasn't growing, like in fall and winter. And the leaf petioles being so long, and upward facing, wouldn't compliment the falling-water look of the branches.

Its not uncommon for maples in nature to be somewhat weeping, not like willow weeping, but often the weight of the leaves and mass of twigs on the branches weight them down after a time. poplar look like this as well, the large leaves, coupled with the large tulip-like flowers at the end of the twigs keep them arching in the same fasion. i'll agree though that it would be hard to pass off on a smaller scale, it would require much diligence to keep it nice, it will always have wire all over it.

I guess it would be a lot of work to keep it looking like its weeping. Maybe a cascade? Its just I am trying to figure out what to do with the tree that I have. What I need to do is get a picture off to you guys and hear out your suggestions.

Between putting up christmas lights I will try to get a pic tommorrow.

Maybe semi-cascade, or you might be able to trunk chop and then a sumo mame or change the planting angle an use clip and grow on the trunk to get kind of an iformal upright,with side to side zig-zaggy trunk. think out your options well,...remember there are over 30 forms or styles allready accepted in formal bonsai design.
