Old Man Winter
Hope I am not wearying out my welcome,
I have a question what is the story with bonsai in the winter? I am in Connecticut and I keep my trees in an unheated garage and i noticed this year that a couple of the plants the soil froze, how bad is this for the tree? Trees like trident maple, pines and so forth. the temperature in the garage reaches approximately 20 in the evening and then warms up in the morning but is the frozen soil going to hurt my plants? thanks for all your help, farmerdave Last edited by farmerdave : 17-Jan-2004 at 12:11 AM. |

Your trees should be fine. I read another post earlier that said Trident Maples and similar trees are hardy down to 0-10 degrees. read the post just a few lines down about Trident Maples, that should help. Pines are hardy too.
