Needle reduction
Can I have some assistance for the 3/4 yr process of needle size reduction for an established White Pine grafted onto Black root stock approx 150 years old and over loved by friends watering during holidays the last couple of years.

OK - let me get this right, it was all rather a lot for one sentence.
So the pine was at friends while you were on holiday for 2 years? They over watered it for the whole 2 year period and now you have long candles and you want to sort this out? The best book I saw on this subject was Dan Barton's "The Bonsai Book". http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...2492420160&rd=1 He has a whole section on different candle techniques. Jerry Amsterdam

To many Gin & tonics in the afternoon!
I suppose it was a bit mis leading, I actually meant to say that while on holiday twice in a 2 year period a friend watered and fed it with 35-20-15 fertiliser, it loved every bit of it and grew so well for him he was chuffed, when the needles started getting longer I deduced as Sherlock would that things were not quite right, and yes I have read Dans book, but was hoping for a reply from a 110 year old Japanese bonsai master that has a collection of over 1000 trees and 500 are White Pine and the longest needle is a half inch, still I live in hope that he or she may give me that secret. In the meantime any advice is most welcome.

Sure those master are lurking the web. Please stop changing font-color-size. It's annoying. |
