My teas tastes bad and it's your problem!

Now that I have your attention! It really is the reason for the post.....my lovely Darjeeling in a handmade porcelain mug (Thank you again, Tigger!) tasted pretty awful today. Why? Tapwater!! The tapwater this time of year is so full of chlorine it makes you gag.

If you live in a city where the water supply is heavily chlorinated in the summertime, you might want to consider buying a big clean new trash can and filling it up with water. Cover it lightly. In a few days, the chlorine will evaporate out, or at least it doesn't make your eyes water anymore!

I ran out of rainwater weeks ago, and with the likelihood of any liquid gold falling from the sky here being rather slim for months, at least the trees have this nice, room temperature, standing but clean water.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for cheap or free water treatment for newbies to use?

Gonna go dump this tea,

Joanie

I like the part regarding wasting time..lol.I used to follow those bonsai watering myths, tap water will kill it,tap water will kill it-sigh.I would spend lots of time boiling water then storing it in plastic containers. Then on watering day I would place the mallsai in the sink and fill it up submerging the pot with my speacial water untill all the bubbles stopped.

Hi Joanie,

If your water is tasting too strongly of Chlorine, try one of those charcoal filter systems. Should make your cuppa much more pleasant.

All the best,

Aaron

I feel your pain. Don't underestimate the power of dew in the mornings to give a slight wash to crusty buildup on leaves as the dog days of summer continue.

If you can get your plants out in the open it does 'em a whirled of good.

For the rest of the world , we live where almost all of our water is brought here from sources up to hundreds of miles away, hey we need our golf courses and avocado trees.

Interesting article Will thanks,
So considering I'm on well water (which I Love) should I perhaps be putting a drop or two of Clorox in the water I give to plants?

Thanks,
David

I'm going to have to look at that again later, Will, 'cause I'm still verrry suspicious of this water. Thank you for the link to start investigating!

We get constant ocean mist here, our windows are covered with slimy little animalcules from the spindrift spray. And our water is very different in the summer than in the winter. You can drink the winter water.....

Perhaps it is the salts, not the chlorine? Hmmmmm....

And whiskey in the tea! Heavens!! Maybe a nice afternoon blend, Russian Caravan perhaps.....

Here's another article that supports the first.

Okay, thanks for that! Another myth busted!

But I'm not a plant and I'm using bottled water for tea from now on....

or whiskey
