Opinion Japanese Maple Indoor

Hello, I recently aquired a really nice Japanese Maple. My mother has kept this plant in a large pot for about seven years. It's about 20" tall and has a about a 5/8" inch base @ the trunk. I am planning to repot very soon. Any advice or comments woulf be greatly appreciated. My main question is, can this tree be kept indoors, near a window for indirect light?

Thanks,

Dan

'No, it would most likely die'. For advice and comments you will get a better response if you post a photo or two. Also a description of the soil you intend to use for the re-pot, new pot size etc. would be very helpful for folks who want to give you advice.

Japanese maple should be repotted in late winter just before the new buds begin to leaf out. The weather right now would be to much stress for a deciduous repot.

Thanks

I'll keep these things in mind. Also I'll try to get some photo's up soon.

I'm really worried about leaving the plant outside for fear of theft from my sketchy neighbors. What if I only brought it in when I was'nt home?

If you are worried about theft, then bringing the tree inside for short periods shouldn't pose to much difficulty for the tree. But always remember its a tree and belongs out doors.
