Is the soil staying wet or are you letting it dry out a little between waterings? If you stick your finger into it, is it just a little wet underneath the top? What soil did you use? When you repotted, did you cut any of the roots? Was the pot smaller than the one they came in?
Where do you keep the tree? Outside or inside, in the sun or shade? Does it have any new buds at all? Does it have any bugs? Joanie |

Indoor light, even in a sunny window, is never as intense as the light outdoors. If lighting is the problem, supplementing it may help (can't hurt), but I wouldn't use UV light. Plants absorb wavelengths between 400 and 700 nm I think. I'm not sure they can use UV wavelengths, and they may actually be damaging. Are you sure you're not thinking of fluorescent lighting? You can get bulbs for fluorescents that give a better spectrum of lights for plants.

Hi Tree,
Really you need to take a picture of the rain trees so that everyone can see what you are referring to. The first thing I would say to you is that NO tree is an indoor tree. Trees are best of growing where nature intended. Bonsai that are referred to as "indoor" are so labelled because they can survive , this does not mean they will thrive. Most "indoor" trees are subtropical like Ficus, and must be given protection from the winter temperatures. From mid spring (temps permitting) all the way through to late autumn, these "indoor" trees should be kept outside getting the full benefit of natural light, water, humidity and air circulation. On top of the picture, information on the watering and feeding regime you have been following will be needed. Most often, bonsai are killed by over watering them or over feeding them. I don't own a raintree, but many people on the forum do, who might be able to offer you some sound advice. I did a quick search online, and one website said these were "outdoor" trees, so that alone might be reason enough as to why yours are dying. UV light wont help anymore than putting the tree outside. Sit tight and wait for replies from those with direct experience with these trees. In the meantime, fill out your user CP with location and USDA heat zone info for future reference. Your USDA is 9. All the best, Aaron
