Sounds like it is a fungus or some other pathogin. Bahama Berry doesn't sound like it's from PA but fungus' and other organism's don't really care where the plants are from.

I would suggest removing the infected leaves from the tree and getting them out of the area that the tree is in. If you have a local arboretum or university around you can try keeping the leaves in a zip lock baggy and seeing if there is an entomologist who might be able to diagnos what the problem is. If you use pruning shears to remove the leaves then sterilize them after words with rubbing alcohol.

When temperatures are right for your tree it will probably benefit from being outside. Most trees are not in any harm if they are growing vigorously and are generally healthy to start with. It is usually when two or more infestations are working against a tree that it is most vulnerable.

Good luck. -Dkozi

yo, i also have a bahama berry...it is also basically dead. i have no idea why or what is causing this, but i can only assume that its because we doint live in the trpics... i have mine well watered and covered to reduce water loss, but all my leaves have been falling off and im about to throw the damn thing out the window. basaically, its just probably too damn cold w/not enough direct sunlight.

Trying to imitate the tropics indoor can be pretty challenging. Probably the main reason I got rid of mine. One of the key things needed is fresh air ciculating around other wise you wind up with fungal diseases. Stale air indoors is one of the worst things for bonsai. It is a breeding ground for pathogins.

My bahama berry would often get spots on old leaves before they dropped. they are sensitive, so don't get crazy with chemicals. Are the young leaves getting spots?

the young leaves look fine and are healthy looking. i havent gone crazy with chemicals i just use vitimins and fertilizer and i alternate weeks for the both. i just got my bahama berry and it is the first couple weeks for me with it so maybe im just over reacting about the spots. people i ask seem to think i may be watering to much however if it drys it dies. i have just been keeping the soil moist. dose anyone think i may be watering to much and that may cause a fungal growth? or maybe its not getting enough light? i put my grow light on when the sun is not the brightest it could be, how much "direct" sunlight a day sho8ld it be getting? also i just want to say this site is geat and thank you to everyone for your help. i dont know who i would ask otherwise
