Thanks for the replies. Well since I have already repotted my trees, I don't think I only need to put one tree in a grow box. It's an olive seedling that was given to me to train to sell at one of our club's shows next year. It's basically a stick in a pot right now so hopefully I can get the trunk to thicken a bit in 2 growing seasons.

Would it be more beneficial to the trees if I stuck the grow boxes in the ground? The soil in the garden is horrible, so I'm afraid that if the roots start poking out of the grow box, they would not enjoy it. I'm thinking about building oversized grow boxes to try and replicate being in the ground. The temperatures here get really warm (116F during the hottest parts). What should I do?
i would try that grow bag.......

its a thing you put the roots of the tree in
a "control bag" they call it

it automatically root prunes it and keeps the roots controlled and neat

so when u dig it up in time......there is less shock

"...an olive seedling that was given to me to train to sell at one of our club's shows next year...".

If you have only one year...forget the bag.

Why not ask somebody in the club how they get the best short term results?
