fukien tea possibly dying

hi,

i have had a few problems with my fukien tea it has wierd white stuff on the leaves what is it please?and it had on the base on the trunk aswell but i scraped it off . the leaves have nearly all gone as you can see in the pic i have recently moved it infront of the window, also i did watrer it quite often (1-2 days) which i have been told is too much, so is it down to over watering or some sort of disease.I hope it aint dying. please help. Thanks

ok powdery mildew is genarrally a sign of fungus..... its not dangerous...
common garden fungal due to poor ventilation etc.
treat with mild fungicides....

try keep it outside for a while after treatment..

Fukien Tea has white spots on the leaves: this is quite normal- it's meant to. It's part of the characteristic of this species. I've read about this!

But I don't know why the leaves are dropping off.

your soil looks to be good draining, it does look very wet though. after this watering let the soil dry out a little. if the soil is wet then dont water. apply the mild fungicide perhaps, but the point is the tree is weak from too much water probably, as well as maybe not enough light. if u find insects hand pick them off and keep them from populating your tree. bugs like weak trees. the tree should, after it gets the conditions it desires start to bud back and be good as new.

I just want to make a note for rest of the Fukien owners.

Fukiens do not "possibily die". They die right away. So you have to take be very carefull with it. No matter what guidelines say, they can not tolorate heavy pruning of any kind. Clayed soil is much better than regular well draining mixes. Roots want constant moist but rot instantly when they get too wet. With well draining soils it is hard to achive it.
