Marking posts read

For some reason, when I mark a post as read I still have a check mark. It's probly something that I am doing. But just wanted to let you know.

There are various ways to browse this forum. It's a little different than the other one in that it keeps the messages marked as new until your next visit.

Once you've decided you're caught up, you can click the Mark All Forums Read and the checks will all disappear.

I have found the View New Posts link at the top under your name is a convenient way to browse because it will give you a list of everything that was posted since your last visit on one page.

This is the same as clicking the "View New Posts" on the start page.

Regards,

Matt.

BTW,

You can mark threads or forums as read, but not individual posts. How and where did you see the checks?

Regards,

Matt

I am seeing the checks on the home page. The onle way I can get rid of them is to mark as read and then log off then back on.

Yes this forum doesn't mark threads as read until you either exit or mark them yourself.

If you just leave and come back, I think it will start over, but I'm not sure.

Regards,

Matt

Exclamation

I think something is really wrong with the "red checks" showing post have you have read and not read.

all boards show there are new messages I have not read on that fourm, but when I go into the actual fourm (ex: general) it shows them as all read even if I have not looked at the posting.

I have even refreshed the pages just to double check and its not working.

I'll look into it. In the meantime I really think using the new_messages link at the top right of the home page is the way to go. You can browse all the messages posted since your last visit, and clear all the flags when you're done with the link at the bottom.

Regards,

Matt

Ok, I've played around some .......

I now see new red checks at the main page showing there are new postings onto the sub-forum...... but once your into the acutal forum it does not show new topics/reply with a red check. (and still no red checks on post that I have not looked at)

Hope this info is helping more then making you frustrated
