gallery thoughts

i have seen a lot of users post pics of trees from shows, nurseries, etc., that do not belong to the member, in thier gallery. not that this is a major problem, but i for one like to see what that individual has produced. i may see a tree in the works that the member has posted in the show and tell forum and be intrigued to view that persons gallery, only to find that it is filled with other peoples (places) trees. it is my opinion that these other trees could be placed elsewhere in the gallery so that the "member gallery" stays true to its name. just a thought for today.

I would have to agree with you on that. but people will still put things in the member galleries that are not thiers. just like people put unfinished trees in the gallery even though its says that is what you are supposed to put in it.

Maybe it is time to reconsider what the official guidelines for the user gallery should be. I have seen pictures of pots, stands, other bonsai, and as stated the requirement is for "show ready" trees. I would love to show my works in progress, but it clearly states this is not the intended purpose.

The last time I suggest this I was accused of having alterior motives for the suggestion. Personally I would like to see it happen.

When OMC was the Gallery Mod... I hear he did a fine job of keeping it in line.

I was suprised that the special gallery photos of Elanden Gardens appear in my "member gallery" even though they have their own gallery. In situations like that, where the pics are a benefit to everyone... I don't see that as a problem. The photos are all labeled clearly. Now someone not clearly defining the origins or ownership of a tree that is not their own, or worse posting photographs not their own that they picked up off the web somewhere... that is VERY BAD form, and should be dealt with.

Just my two cents...

Kindest regards,

Victrinia

Unfortunately, what you're suggesting isn't possible with the current version of the gallery software. Everything a person uploads is mirrored in "their gallery" Their gallery is in fact just a collection of everything they've uploaded to any folder.

Matt

I don't recall reading that, but I confess I don't have time to read every post. However, if I did, I would have told you the same thing, I wrote above: that it isn't possible.

A related discussion I do recall was about removing photos from one's own gallery. In the case that one opts not to participate, I do not understand why there should be concern about what others do with their own privileges.

Regards,

Matt
