The enemy we know as "Chat"

I was wondering if there was any plans to upgrade the chat program we use here at BT?

There must be light at the end of hell, the constant chat kicks (aka chat farts*) are always frustrating.

Im sure all chat users are praying for an upgrade some time soon

Upset

Being a new chum!! to computers self taught. I am not familiar with a lot of the Jargon used for PC speak.
I have been in the chat room twice both times i got frustrated, when I was answering a question it did not go though, then when I tried again, I was bumped or as Asus put it (chat farted if that is the term ) I am not looking forward to being in, Australian chat and get bumped or farted on.

We have had these problems before.

Will ask Matt if the system needs re-booting.

When it works - it is very good

Best Regards,
Ian

I have been in chat multiple times and I've never been kicked out of it at all. I have however, witnessed bunches of people being kicked off every 5 or so minutes (sorry MJ ). I don't know if it's just me and my computer, or if chat just seems to like me.

I'm looking forward to enjoying Australian chat tomorrow night. I'm not looking forward to sitting there for ten minutes thinking "i wonder why nobody's talking" then when i attempt to type, it says I'm logged out! I suppose its not a major problem, just a major inconvenience.

I tended to get booted more often with my old windows xp operating system and old computer.

I am not sure if it is the vista operating system or the more powerful computer but I tend to only get booted when there is a long chat history and I am also browsing the web. It often lags and some times crashes when I bring the chat window back into view.

Its an Adobe (previously macro-media) Flash based window that accepts and displays string of text from multiple people. There is no rebooting.... as soon as everyone disconnects from it.... it stops. no "rebooting" needed.

The problem here is that its like Flash4.0 based (and has issues) with the current version of Flash being 9.0 you can figure there might be some issues that have been resolved by now.

really IRC is the best option.... but there is such a learning curve that it can be hard for non-techs to grasp.

Asus... you have the knowledge and maybe the time... to possbily setup an IRC channel on Undernet (or some user friendly network) and possibly write up a document on installing MIRC and getting started (we'll have some one do one as well for you Mac users?) ..... Is that do able? after that a link can be added to take people right in. Tell me what you think...
