I recently joined, and I saw a comment by a fourm GURU here stating that people should attach their images, so future people will be able to see them for years to come. This is great and all but I am on a slow connection, and I already have my pictures uploaded, so I wish there was an option to grab images from URL's and use them as attachments.

Welcome to bonsaitalk mwh27,
Unless your connection is much slower than a 56K modem, it won't take you any longer to upload your images than it will take someone with a modem to look at them. At 56K, that's about 10 seconds per image for the 75K image. You can link to offsite images if you want (except for contest entries, where this isn't permitted). However, this generally not preferred, because, as you noted above, the lifetime of an offsite image is usually measured in months, sometimes days. Regards, Matt

See, all my photos are done with a 5MP digital camera, then I upload them at work to my website, and I run Gallery, so it automaticly makes a thumb, 800x600, and a native res. It's just very cumbersome to download them, just to upload them. I feel it would add some functionalitly to the forum, because the people who have ther pictures online want them online, for what ever reason, and will not store them locally.
