Recommendation?
Midori is fairly near my home in San Leandro, but not close enough for it to be practical for me to consider joining.
Can anyone there recommend a reputable bonsai club near my area which will accept new inexperienced members?

Check the Golden State site at http://www.gsbf-bonsai.org . (On that page, click the GSBF link and then Member Clubs for San Francisco Area) Yamato is probably the closest.
Regards, Matt
