Matt, I get the file size to 36 kb but it still says the file is too large.
Limit is 801 x 801. Your file is 640 x 853. I have no idea why it will not work.
Thanks again, Donna

Maybe because 853 is larger than the allowed 801 pixels??

If you are using Irfanview then these links will be handy

Resizing Images: http://www.stressbank.com/tutorial_irfanview-2.shtml

They should help.

Being new to this forum & bonsai, I haven't got any images to post yet (most of my trees are potensai) but I now feel confindent (with a little practice) that I will get it right.

Dummie has questions

I received a digital camera for christmas and having trouble trying to figure out how to upload pictures to bonsai talk. I am just a dummie user on a computer. I have pictures saved to the computer but really clueless from there. I have windows xp drive and fine pix viewer for the camera. Is additional softwear need to upload pictures? Are there any basic instructions that a computer dummie might understand . Thanks for any help, JW

Hi jws,

I thought I'd done a walk through for posting images, but I haven't been around here in a while and I can't find it so here is another.

On the reply to thread page, part way down "additional options" there is a manage attachments button (picture 1) to click

This will open another window like in picture 2. Here you click the browse buttons to select the file(s) to upload from your computer.

When you have selected your pictures (up to 3) click the upload button (picture 3).

During upload, you should see the message "uploading file(s) - please wait" (picture 4).

After succesful upload you will see something like picture 5, with the files you selected appearing in the "current attachments" section.

Now you can either close the upload window or attach more images. When you close the upload window (picture 5) you should see something like picture 6, the file(s) you selected should appear above the "manage attachments" button.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Chris.

Thumbs up

Thanks Chris,

That's one sweet tutorial.

I think Matt is working on a quick "new member" information package (links based) and that is sure to be one to include.

Regards,
Ian.

Hi JW, When you click "preview post" it won't show your pictures in the preview, only the text. As long as the filenames appear above the manage attachments button the pictures will show in the finished post.

Regards,

Chris.
