mugo pine advice

I juist got a nice mugo pine specimen. What is the best way to work with a pine? Do I pinch the candles back or remove them completely?

Re: mugo pine advice

mugho doesn't have the strength of the Japanese black pine or even austrian pine, so I would treat it more like a Japanese White pine and pinch the candles back as they are developing but before the needle sheaths really become apparent.

You'll also want the thin the candle groups down to a single pair on the terminal of each branch, or cut back to a single pair at the point at which you decide SHOULD BE the terminal of the branch.
