Layering Question

I need to layer out the top 2 or3" inches of a trident maple. My question is can I peel it like the drawing. I need to do it at an angle and just wanted to know would it ruin the paths or something. I have always seen them done perpendicular.

Sure thing. You might need to carve a little groove to drop your wire into though.

Regards,

Matt

I've never tried with a maple but i've done elms that way and had good success. It's a good way to get even rooting yet still have that sparp angle where it exits the ground.

I second the motion , yes. Is the little top intended to be a little semi cascade.
My first inkling would have been the opposite angle.
