can anyone explain to me how to a jin to get the driftwood or dead wood effect.or anyone know of a site that explains it

Wow, Good page TreeBay. I don't think I've ever seen that much carving/dead wood info on one web page. I have an awsome piece to carve this winter. I plan on attaching a nana to it next spring (cheater dead wood), and that page really helped.

when would be the best time to perform jin styling though? Most pages I read are alittle fuzzy on that issue. Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter. Hmmm?

This is a fuzzy topic. I guess most people jin their trees when they style them. Down here when I style my trees I jin them but I style my trees main in the growing season. Now I don't lime sulphur them until summer when it start to get really hot. The reason for that is the lime sulphur will bleach/dry out very and not stay wet on the tree too long. So knowing this you could say that your best bet would be to style jins and apply lime suphur in the hot summer months.
