http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060405...ozing_flowers_1

I wonder...would my trees like to kick back and have a little Jack Daniels with me? I swear, if I see you somking another cigarette, Ficus, I will tan your hide...uh roots!

Man, this is really gonna put my 12-step program to the test!

And what happens when the plant sobers up and finds itself in a Mexican jail wearing oversized flowered underwear and lipstick. Not that I ever did anything like that ...

From what I can tell from the article, the researcher is guessing that the leaves end up dwarfed due to the fact that alcohol is not healthy for the plant one way or the other. So I'm thinking this is not a good long term feeding regimen. But maybe a couple shots in the spring before a show, just for one season?

BTW, LittleJohn, did you pick up this link from FARK?

Thumbs up

I was beginning to wonder if everone had lost their sense of humor...or whe it wakes up in the back of someone else's truck doing 90mph through town and sliding to a halt at red lights. Not that anything like that has happened to me either.

You know I was thinking I had just found several new drinking buddies...drinking buddies are required in the south.

Really though this guy is working with daffodils. I've spent years trying to kill those sucker growing in the front yard I really don't think a little bit of drink is going to do anything to 'em.

The story was sent to be by my ex-wife. She normally finds these type of stories on Yahoo through the AP Strange news and stuff like that.

I think I will try this when I water next time. Let's see, 2 oz of hard liquor (rum is my choice) and 1 gal of water. Slowly pour liquor in mouth while slowly pouring water on soil. I think my trees will look a lot better after several months of this watering scheme. I may have to try the triple watering method with liqour. Sounds like fun. Thanks for the info.

My trees are now hearing the rumor, and they voted for tequila. (Notice we are close to the border of Mexico) They said that the worm will be uneaten, but if it lays on the soil it will be a deterrant to other bugs.

If the trees are drunk, do the aphids get woozy? Do the scale lumps lose their grip? This might have widespread implications....

I hate tequila, btw. Why couldn't they ask for rum?

Intriguing...would the aphids then fall from the tree? OMG what if they get sick in the pot...<scratching head>...would that be bad or good? Maybe change the soil content (***not starting another soil debate***). LOL

if they loose their grip then we are onto a new "organic" method of pest control right?
