Branch Bender Or Heavy Wire, Which And Why??

The title fairly well gives the idea of this thread. FredL brought up a good point on the 'Zelkova' thread in the general area. An informal upright should have a bit of movement in the trunk, and if it doesn't, we should put some into it. Well we have the ability to use many methods, two of which are a branch/trunk bender and the other being heavy training wire.

What have been your experiences with these two differing methods? Do you prefer one over the other? Why? Please if you have a reason give it!

Hi Jay,

I've got my larch under a full nelson as we speak. There is a standard branch bender AND a rather non-standard bender working their charms on my 'spaghetti root' larch.

here is a before pic from last summer...

... and with benders applied.

Regards,

TB

TB, thanks for the picture with trunk benders applied. I was having a little trouble getting my head around how to produce "three dimmensional" bending with them. Seems the trick is to apply two at the same time.
